Division Director Update

 Division D Leaders,

I hope your holidays were relaxing, and that you had a chance to connect with friends and family.  Can you believe it's already February?! There are only 4 months remaining for this Toastmasters year. Below are some things to keep in mind as you look ahead to year-end.

Shout out to our Division D clubs:
  • Building New Hope - 30 members!
  • Pillsbury, Whole Wheat & Aliianz - over 20 members!
  • On track for Distinguished - Tri-Dynamics, Tic Talkers, PowerTalk, Whole Wheat, Mills Early Risers, and Allianz Toasters
  • PowerTalk is 7 for 7 for Officer Training!
Your Area Director is scheduling club visits. This is a great opportunity for you to talk about challenges and plans for the next year.

Below is a summary of key dates and information for your clubs. Please contact me or your Area Director if you have any questions.
Key Dates:
  1. Club Officer Training - now through the end of February. Gather ideas for ways to get/keep your club stable and strong. You need at least 4 officers to complete training to earn the DCP point.
  2. District Council - 2/22 for all President, VPE, Area, and Division leaders. The registration link is on D106TM.org.
  3. Club Dues - at least 8 members must be paid before 4/1. With the new Pathways system, your members will lose access to Pathways if your club is not in good standing (at least 8 paid members). You must also be in good standing for your club to participate in Area and Division speech contests.
  4. Speech Contests
    1. If you are competing in a contest, be sure to get a passport for the Division contest in Thunder Bay.
    2. We need roles filled for our contests. Please contact myself or your Area Director if you can help.
    3. Area 33 & 34 Speech Contest - March 12, Ridgedale Library
    4. Area 31 & 32 Speech Contest - March 19 , Ridgedale Library
    5. Division B and Division D Speech Contests - April 5, Allianz campus
    6. District 106 - May 3-4, Thunder Bay, Ontario
Please send me an invite to your club speech contests. I want to attend as many as possible, and I'm happy to fill a role if needed.

Keep in Mind:
  1. Club Coaches - If your club needs or wants a coach, contact your Area Director. There are resources available to help you.
  2. Toastmaster of the Year (TMOY) nominations are due early May. Look back at the year for outstanding member accomplishments to help with submitting your club TMOY to your Area Director.
  3. The District is looking for people to fill Area Director roles for next year. This is the most rewarding role beyond the club level (as professed by many who have done this). It is also the most difficult role to fill because we need so many. If you have any interest or curiosity about leadership beyond the club, or know someone who may be willing, please contact me.
Helpful Info:
  1. To remain in good standing next year you will be required to have 12 members. The current requirement is 8. Let me know if you need help with membership.
  2. To be a Distinguished club next year you are required to submit a Club Success Plan.
  3. To earn your DTM you are now required to be part of a Club Success Plan.
Area Directors:
  • Area 31 - Ollie Stocker
  • Area 32 - Dana Vigoren
  • Area 33 - David Rasmussen
  • Area 34 - Bob Dummer
